Amachuma lies in the high altiplano, near El Alto, outside of La Paz. The town is home to a newly developing Christian medical ministry known as Hospital Bethel.
The project aims at a “Level II” facility that will serve the community in and around Amachuma, with quality care for those with limited resources. It will also serve as a center from which to reach out to more isolated areas. The entire project will emphasize the application of Christian values within an Aymara context so that its clients can feel that this is “their” hospital.
