“It is true, the Mongolian Church is like this. There are many, many new, young Mongolians leading the Church. Sometimes they fall and hurt themselves. My prayer is that they won’t sit there and cry but get back on the horse again.” – President of Mongolia Evangelical Alliance (MEA)

Tonight’s Challenge Night was focused on the Church in Mongolia. In 1990 there were virtually no known believers in Mongolia… today estimates vary between 30,000-50,000! WMPL has partnered with the Mongolian Church and Joint Christian Services, International (JCS) since 1993. Our vision for Mongolia is that of JCS:

“To see Mongolians restoring and building families, churches, and communities.”

WMPL Personnel Director Chris Broderson had the privilege of visiting Mongolia last fall, to participate in a vision-casting tour hosted by JCS and also touch base with WMPL fellow worker Jenna Noll, who had arrived in Ulaanbaatar just a few weeks earlier and was settling in and beginning language study. Charles and Anita Jackson have been approved for service and will soon be joining the JCS team from WMPL Canada this month!

Last week we prayed on to Korea TLC alums, Katherine & Brent Crofton. They were arriving to teach English at public schools even as we joined together once again last night. This time we tested out the menu that will be featured at the annual brunch in March. It was birthday Friday, so we signed birthday cards for all those WMPL misisonaries having birthdays in March. Then we gathered to skype call with Kathi & Mark in the Philippines. What an encouragement, even with a bit of a delay in the sound, to pray together even from half-way around the world!

    Twenty-seven WMPL related young people, including Chris, Carmen and Bethany from our Home Staff, participated in Urbana 2009. More than 17,000 missions-minded young people from around the world met in St. Louis to consider the call of God upon their lives, and investigate opportunities for service.
