Pakistan

Pakistan is comprised of nearly 180,000,000 people in 389 people groups and six major languages; 374 of Pakistan’s people groups are considered unreached. Pakistan is an Islamic republic. Almost 97% of the entire population is Muslim. Christians are barely 2 percent, and suffer endemic persecution.

Colleagues and workers within our community have served in Pakistan for nearly fifty years, in medical, educational, and agricultural projects.

For further information and specific suggestions for prayer, see Joshua Project.

Commissioned to Pray

Can you picture it? A band of students, pastors and friends gathering together to pray for the nations. Imagine – young people sharing their lives, their hearts, and a passion for the lost. This is exactly how the World Mission Prayer League began! I have often wondered about those days in the mid-1930s when passionate [Continue Reading]

Hunky Dory Diary – 1972

June had come and again it was time for the Mission Camp at Hunky Dory. After a six-hour trip my daughter, my sister and I arrived at the camp on Sunday afternoon. It was a thrill when we turned into the old camp gate and again saw the beautiful setting of Hunky Dory. The first [Continue Reading]

Making Friends

“Why have you come to Pakistan? Don’t you like your own country? Is it a bad country?” Afsary, Bibi and I were sitting on a rope bed in front of their small house talking about many things – how expensive goods are in the bazaar, how much I paid for my dress and how much [Continue Reading]

Fellow Workers in the Truth

In 2012 we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our first missionary sending. Our newsletter has featured testimonies month-by-month throughout the year, ranging from our earliest years as a missionary community until today. This month we feature a pair of stories from a pair of our pioneers. You will find an article from Millie Hasselquist (now [Continue Reading]

At the end of February two of our long-term missionaries to Pakistan left the field and have returned to life in the United States. Both of these women have faithfully served at Christian Hospital Tank (CHT) for many years. Jan Kersgaard was there for more than 30 years and Elenn’ Elness served at CHT for [Continue Reading]

Now…let’s get going!

This month, now at midsummer, let’s get going. There is very much work to do! Sometimes, of course, we should be slowing down. We must measure our pace along the road to Jericho, for example – as the Good Samaritan did – if we are to see the wounded ones that wait for us there. [Continue Reading]

Smaller than you thought

It turns out that the earth is rather smaller than previously estimated. I learned of the discrepancy just the other day. Researcher Axel Nothnagel of the University of Bonn discovered the error, having recently completed a measure of the earth’s diameter with unprecedented precision. Dr. Nothnagel used a methodology called “very long baseline interferometry” – [Continue Reading]

Too little scattering

"My constant ambition has been to preach the gospel where the name of Christ was previously unknown, and to avoid building on another man’s foundation, as Scripture says: They shall see, to whom no tidings of him came, and they who have not heard shall understand" (Romans 15:20-21, Phillips). Recently, I have been perusing the [Continue Reading]
