This evening we heard from Gloria Sauck, home from Arsim, in the heartland of Samburu District, in northern Kenya. Gloria is nurse in charge of the medical dispensary in Arsim, and a servant to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK).
Samburu District manifests the highest incidence of trachoma and trichiasis in all of Kenya. The ELCK, together with the World Mission Prayer League, has partnered with the Christoffel Blindenmission in an integrated trachoma reduction program. (You will find a video describing the program below.)
In addition trachoma reduction, Gloria is an accomplished ethnomusicologist. She has catalyzed the production of ethnic Samburu lyrics and melodies to assist in the transmission of health, development, and spiritual truths throughout the community. You will find original compositions from Samburuland available for download elsewhere at wmpl .org.
The following video describes a trachoma reduction program in partnership with Christoffel Blindenmission, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya, and the World Mission Prayer League.
