Who Should Attend?

WOW is designed for anyone considering missionary service within the fellowship of the World Mission Prayer League. The full course is required preparation for all long-term applicants and highly recommended for short-term volunteers.

It may be that you are feeling called to eventual cross-cultural service, but do not feel ready to undertake it immediately. WOW might be the perfect opportunity to get to know us, to hear other missionaries stories of being called, and to talk with, and pray with us about where the Lord might be leading you. What Happens at WOW?

WOW is two weeks of fellowship (one week at our family camp) and one week of orientation (at our office in Minneapolis) addressing themes of vital interest to anyone considering cross-cultural service with the Prayer League.

The goal of orientation is to:
- Learn about WMPL ethos, vision and values
- Meet our staff and missionaries and have the opportunity to ask questions, pray about your call and direction, and hear about specific fields
- Learn how to communicate with prayer and financial supporters
- Learn about our Security Protocol
- Learn healthy cultural, emotional and relational adaptation skills
If you do go on to serve with WMPL, you will be given recommendations for further training, such as cross-cultural adaptation and language learning skills.

Where and When?

The dates for WOW (WMPL Orientation Weeks) are June 12-24. The first five days (June 12-16) are held in conjunction with our annual family camp at Mount Carmel Ministries, 800 Mount Carmel Drive NE, Alexandria, MN 56308

This is an especially meaningful time to visit with current and former missionaries as well as our staff and other WOW participants.

The final week of WOW (June 17-24) will be held at our Home Office at 232 Clifton Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55403

Housing and childcare are available upon request.

What Does WOW Cost?

Registration fee for WOW is waived this year. You will also need to purchase some books to read before arriving at briefing course. A reading list will be sent to you if you haven’t already received it.

Additional cost for housing and meals are as follows:

Mt. Carmel Camp (total cost):

$160/ person (age 13 and older)
$75/ child (age 4-12)
Free/toddler (age 3 and under)

Room and Board in Minneapolis:

$100/ person (age 13 and older)
$70/ child (age 4-12)
Free (age 3 and under)

Commuters pay $3/meal

Childcare $30/child
