Dr. Eugene Bunkowske Called Home

The workers, members, and friends of World Mission Prayer League are saddened by the news that our dear friend and brother in Christ, Dr. Eugene Bunkowske, has departed us after some months of a painful battle with cancer. He was called home by his Creator on Tuesday morning, March 27, 2018. We join his wife Bernice and their family in grieving their loss, but we are also greatly comforted and heartened, as are they, for we know the gift of eternal life that is his because of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! His Easter celebration will be heavenly!

Dr. Bunkowske has been a long-time dedicated partner and friend of World Mission Prayer League. Having served on our Home Council and Directorate for many years, and having visited many of our workers and fields of service, he was a great blessing to our work for the Lord Jesus and His Kingdom. His daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Brian Sorge, are beloved WMPL workers. He has been a wise mentor to many of us and a dear friend to all. His knowledge, leadership, and frequent probing questions, have been used by the Holy Spirit to guide the work of the Prayer League for decades. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice that he has been welcomed into the company of the saints!

Our brother Gene has moved from his place with us here on earth to his new home with the Lord, and so it is with joy that we can invite you to his “Re-positioning Service” on Saturday, April 7, 11:00am, at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road, Woodbury, MN.
