Half-Hour Challenge

Half Hour Challenge

I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people… This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. I Timothy 2:1,3,4

Half-an-hour. It was a “half-hour challenge” to set our morning alarm earlier than normal to get up and give that half hour to God in prayer.

A dozen Mongolian church leaders accepted this challenge, and for the past two years they have gotten up a half hour early almost every day and prayed for Mongolia. These leaders also meet to organize the 365/24 Prayer Vigil. We are in our second year of lining up one Mongolian church a day to pray for 24 hours for Mongolia.

Anita is on this prayer committee; Charles and JCS colleagues (Joint Christian Services, International) are also praying and supporting this work.

Pray with us that many will hear the Good News and believe. Pray to see our Lord free Mongolians from their fears and from trying to find help from Buddhist monks and other means. Pray for Mongolians to be free from the bonds of alcoholism which are destroying many lives and families. Pray for Christians to be bold and loving in their witness for Jesus Christ.

When I start my day with this prayer, I am reminded of people who are in my life — and I have an intentional purpose to listen to God’s leading and be used today.

Can I tell my neighbor the Good News today? Will he hear me?

Relationships. If my neighbors know that I care about them and their concerns and needs, I have gained their trust and the ability to speak Good News into their lives.

Today I’ve baked a cake to share when I go to visit Oyuna, the seamstress who has a small shop in the basement of our apartment building. Tonight Azjargal’s family has invited us out for dinner. Tomorrow Puje and Erdene are coming for coffee.

Who will be ready to hear and accept the Good News?

Please pray with us for them.

And what about you? It’s a “half-hour challenge”…
