Assurance and Insurance

This month we remember brothers and sisters who suffer for the name of Jesus. We hold them in prayer and their steadfastness in faith and trust in the promises of God encourage our faith walk. As we remember them, we remember God’s continued call on our lives to reach out to the people who have yet to hear. Their sacrifices call us to take seriously the resources we have been entrusted with. I would like to share about how we are continuing to maximize the gifts God has provided in order that we may continue to put our focus on reaching the least reached.

In 2025 we moved away from a group insurance plan and began providing individual budgets so each worker could choose the plan that fits their family and place of service. The change was hard. It required work and faith, and many of our workers felt the strain as we navigated a new path. Still, it was the right step. By God’s mercy – and a lot of patient work – that one move has already saved over $135,000 this year, and the total will likely be near $200,000 by year’s end.

This approach fits well with who we say we are. Our Commissioned Living statement calls us to simplicity. Our people try to live that out – quietly, trusting the Lord’s sure provision. We use insurance because life in a fallen world brings illness and injury. But our confidence doesn’t rest in a policy. Insurance manages risk; assurance names our hope. Jesus tells us, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV) We want even administrative choices to echo that priority – kingdom first, everything else following in its proper place.

As November’s open insurance enrollment begins for 2026, we will keep this budget model. We’ll aim to offer clear guidance, listen carefully to our workers, and make small adjustments as we see need. The aim is steady: care well for our workers and guard the resources entrusted to us so that more ministry can happen and the kingdom may continue to advance.

Thank you for praying and giving. Your partnership turns careful decisions into gospel advance. And we rest in this promise: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 ESV) That is our assurance – strong enough to guide even through all the hassles of dealing with insurance.
