God’s Sustenance

Warm greetings from the Business Office! I could say “hot greetings” as we’re in the dog days of summer – the temperatures continue to rise and, as I write this, the thermometer nearly reads 100°F in Minneapolis. As I got into my very hot car, I caught myself looking forward to winter, almost forgetting that it was only a handful of months ago I was writing about the weather being negative 16°F.

Life in the Business Office has been humming along and many of us have been using vacation time to travel to see friends and family. Although travel has gotten much more expensive, it is a blessing that COVID-19 travel restrictions have been loosened and we are able to once again move around. In response to the changing economic landscape, the Finance Committee has been meeting more frequently. We have also re-established the Investment Committee to stay on top of the ever-changing financial markets, which helps to ensure we are good stewards of our financial resources.

August marks my one year anniversary of being part of the World Mission Prayer League, and the time has definitely flown by. It was an interesting sequence of events the Lord used to bring me to WMPL and this past year, not unexpectedly, has brought challenges. I looked back at my early TIP articles to see what I had written, and to no surprise, God’s provision has been a recurring theme.

One can see this theme throughout WMPL’s history. Month after month, year after year and decade after decade, the Lord has provided us with just enough to meet our financial needs. The World Mission Prayer League has been around for 85 years, and that is due to the Lord continually sustaining us. Another organization celebrating its 85th anniversary this year is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and, as much as I enjoy indulging in a good Krispy Kreme, I would much rather be working for WMPL and relying on the Lord’s provision! Please join me in praising God for his faithfulness and provision with these word from Psalm 107:8-9: “Give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds…for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” (NIV)

We praise God for continuing to provide for us, and our workers received 100% of their allowances during the month of June. Thank you for supporting us financially and with prayer during the first half of the year. We look forward to finding out what God has in store for us during the remainder of the year.

Praying the Lord’s blessings on you this summer!
