BUILDING WITH PURPOSE: LIVING OUT THE SCAFFOLDING PRINCIPLE IN OUR MINISTRY

I am often reminded of the Lord’s incredible provision for the World Mission Prayer League through your sacrificial giving and prayer. With an extremely grateful heart, I share that God has blessed us with growth of our General Fund and General Missionary Support Fund in 2025. Thank you for your partnership through your generous gifts and prayers.

One unique blessing our organization has received is a gift of mineral rights as a source of provision. We are seeing the fruits of this unexpected gift as oil is extracted from the land and provides us with a stream of revenue. God is using this unusual blessing as part of his plan, sustaining our work and enabling us to reach even more people with the Good News.

We prayerfully consider the best stewardship of what the Lord has entrusted to WMPL, including our properties. One of the Prayer League’s guiding principles is to operate with a “scaffolding” style approach (Handbook ¶ 23) to build and equip the Church. A scaffolding’s purpose is to help build something then to be dismantled once the task is complete. As an organization, we are committed to joining God as he builds his kingdom. This also requires frequently evaluating where we must let go, take down, move on, and trust him more fully.

This image has been on my heart as I reflect on my life personally. Am I willing to allow God to use me as scaffolding to build up something for his glory and also willing to let go and have it be dismantled when the time comes? Do I hold my possessions and plans loosely? Am I willing to sacrifice, to have less, so that others may have more? These are hard questions, but essential ones for growth.

Jesus concluded one of his parables saying, “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.'” (Matthew 25:21) This passage reminds me that stewardship is not just about managing what we have, but faithfully trusting God to guide us in all things. WMPL is committed to joining God as he continues to build his kingdom and we seek to steward what he has entrusted to us, including evaluating where we must let go, take down, and move on.

I am so grateful for your partnership in this journey “together in Christ, global prayer, and mobilization” as we seek to follow God’s direction each day.
