One Thing Has Not Changed

Changes in technology have now brought us to the point of being able to efficiently work from home – or anywhere in the world – just as if we were in the office. Yet one thing that has not changed: God’s provision for us. I feel like I am starting to sound like a broken record, but seeing God provide for WMPL on a regular basis has been truly amazing. Through times of uncertainty and a global pandemic, God has provided. At the Board Meeting earlier this month, it was decided that WMPL employees would receive a 5% increase beginning in 2022. I was reminded of a verse I memorized in high school: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). And without fail, God has met the needs of those who serve him!

In the middle of October, all WMPL workers were encouraged to attend the annual “working retreat” at Mount Carmel Ministries in central Minnesota. We were there for three days, helping to clean and paint the cabins, work in and outside the main buildings, place all the outdoor furniture in storage, and make a trail through the woods. My job ended up being the “designated scooper” as I shoveled many of the pebbles from a large pile into a motorized dump cart, which then transported and dumped the pebbles onto the trail. As I waited for the cart to return, I figured it was a good time to continue my daily Bible reading. I picked up where I had left off in the Book of Hebrews and it was not long before I came to this verse, “Make level paths for your feet” (12:13), a verse most appropriate for those of us making a trail!

It was wonderful for us to come together and serve the Lord in a different way than our typical tasks and bless the camp with our labor. I certainly look forward to returning to Mount Carmel next year.
