One of the most remarkable things about serving in my role in the World Mission Prayer League is witnessing the quiet, behind-the-scenes generosity that often goes unnoticed.
Just last month, one of our workers received a generous work fund gift from a praying member of WMPL. Instead of holding onto it for their ministry needs – which would have been entirely appropriate – they reached out to our business office and asked for some of their work funds to be given to a worker facing a shortfall in funding. No fanfare. No need for recognition. Just one servant of the Lord quietly blessing another.
This sort of thing happens more often than most people know. In our fellowship, we regularly see workers looking out for each other – sharing resources, lifting each other up in prayer, offering encouragement, and choosing to live in joyful interdependence. It’s a beautiful glimpse of what the body of Christ is meant to be.
As part of that shared life, each of our global workers is supported through two key funds. The first is a Support Fund, which provides their monthly allowance and benefits and allows them to focus on the work they’ve been called to do. The second is a Work Fund, used for ministry activities – things like travel, education, approved projects, and other costs directly related to their calling.
We seek to honor your intention for every gift given. When you designate a gift intended for one of our workers, it can be directed to either fund, thus helping meet their fielding cost or additional ministry-related needs. Sometimes, as was the case this past month, one worker may receive more than enough in their work fund for a particular season and choose to share the blessing with another in greater need. We praise God for that spirit of generosity that is felt throughout WMPL.
I’m reminded in Acts 4:32: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” (NIV)
This spirit is alive and well in WMPL. Your generosity, prayers, and partnership make it possible. Thank you to all of you who give, share, and pray. You are all part of this tapestry of grace that God is weaving through our global fellowship.
